Margarita Sanchez Appointed to Panel of International Arbitrators of Leading ADR Institution in Latin America

WASHINGTON, DC.–December 11, 2015.– Margarita Sanchez has been appointed to the panel of international arbitrators of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce Centre for Arbitration and Conciliation (CAC-CCB). The appointment is effective for the 2015-2017 term. This prestigious appointment is a recognition of Ms. Sanchez’ strong track record in the field of international arbitration.

“This is excellent news for both women in law and the international arbitration community, and reflects Latin America’s commitment to an inclusive and diverse roster of experienced arbitrators. The Centre for Arbitration and Conciliation of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá is a leading Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) institution in Latin America, and one of the most active centers in the region. The CAC-CCB’s list of arbitrators include top practitioners with proven expertise in arbitration and the appropriate skills.

About Margarita Sanchez

Margarita, a dual Colombian-US national, has a wealth of experience in dispute resolution, and has served as counsel of numerous high-profile cases, including multi-million and multi-billion dollar disputes representing sovereign Latin American states and multinationals, under under most of the major institutional rules (ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL).

Based in Washington, DC, she is the founding partner of Disan LLP, a Washington DC, an international law firm with a keen focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2015, she was named among the “Top 50 Female International Lawyers for Latin American” by Latinvex, and in 2013, was named a “Top Lawyer Under 40” by the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA). She is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University, a frequent speaker on international arbitration and related international legal issues, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London.

Admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia and the Republic of Colombia, Margarita is a native Spanish speaker with extensive experience in civil and common law systems. She holds a JD from Universidad del Norte (Colombia) and an LLM in Law and Government from American University.

XIII International Meeting of Economists: Integration, Globalization and Challenges of Development

WASHINGTON, DC.–December 10, 2015.– On November 23, our Margie-Lys Jaime participated as speaker at the XIII International Meeting of Economists: Integration, Globalization and Challenges of Development, organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Economists Association.

The meeting seek to answer the questions of the current situation of the world economy with keynote presentations from prestigious figures. This meeting assembled over 300 participants from Latin America and the Caribbean, most of them economists but also businessmen and in-house counsel. Margie addressed the importance of investment flows in Latin America and the need of preventing investor-states disputes.
